Devon Day taught English and Reading for 38 years.  30 years ago she agreed to help DeMille Middle School (now McBride High School) organize an emergency response team with students and staff. She got her first amateur radio license at that time, eventually upgrading to Extra Class operator. She taught amateur radio and organized emergency response teams at DeMille, Jordan High, Wilson High,  McBride High, and Sato Academy of Math & Science.

Richard Sherwood worked for IBM for 18 years, then moved onto owning and operating a Bed and Breakfast in Vermont for another 5 years. In 1999, he got his Ham Radio license and later upgraded to Extra class license. About ten years ago Devon Day KF6KEE asked him to work with her creating a radio club at McBride High School and then moved on to support Sato Academy of Math & Science.
