We would like to recognize all of the HOSA members who made it to the 2nd round of the Regional Biomedical Sciences competitive events. These students will be competing at the State level against other qualifying students in California for a chance to represent California in their event at the International Competition held in June.

WESTEC Trade show Race car challenge - 9/19
Sato students won 1st place at the WESTEC trade show for a race car challenge against groups from other schools!
UAS4STEM Nationals - 8/19
The Sato Drone Team competed as UAS4STEM. They won 1st place in California Regionals and 2nd place at Nationals! There were 10 teams from across the U.S. that competed at nationals.
Sim lab - 7/19 and 12/19
We are very fortunate to have many students participate in the LBUSD Medical Simulation Lab with Long Beach Memorial. We had students place 1st and 2nd in July for their presentations and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in December for their presentations!
Electric Go Kart Competition - 5/19
A Sato team won 1st place at the UCI Energy Invitational and 2nd place for their technical report and presentation! A second Sato team won 3rd place at the UCI Energy Invitational.
Chevron Design Challenge - 5/19
The Sato team won 3rd place in the regional challenge in April. They went on to the state competition in May and won 2nd in the state! Their challenge was to identify and address a problem that will make renewable energy more economically viable or portable.
SIM Lab - 4/19
We are very fortunate to have many students participate in the LBUSD Medical Simulation Lab with Long Beach Memorial. We had two students place 1st for their presentation!
Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) - 4/19
HOSA continues to hold strong at the State Leadership Conference! We are so proud of winning Outstanding HOSA Chapter for the second year in a row! Kirsten O. went on to the International Leadership Conference in Orlando to represent our chapter.

Sato students competed at MESA Preliminaries at CSULB. Winners include:

- National Engineering Design Competition, 1st place
- Concrete Disc Competition, Creativity, 1st place

Sato drone team Wins 1st at California Regionals! - 6/18
The Sato drone team won 1st place in the California regional competition. It moved onto national competition for UAS4STEM to compete with 9 other teams.
Chevron design challenge - 4/18
The Sato team won third place at the regional competition.

What a tremendous year for our HOSA chapter at the State Leadership Conference!
- Outstanding HOSA Chapter Award - One of our students went on to represent our HOSA chapter at nationals.
- Barbara James Award for Service Awards - Awarded to 3 Sato students
All of our winners went on to represent our chapter at the International Leadership Competition in Dallas.

Sato HOSA member won 2nd place in Job Seeking Skills at the State Leadership Conference! She will be going on to compete at the International Leadership Conference in Orlando in the summer.

We had 7 students participate last year and 57 students participate this year!!! Many ribbons were also awarded to Sato students within the competitions. Congratulations to James Mills and the all of the students who represented us at MESA Day.
Great things are happening here and it is a great day to be a Dragon!!!
