Biomedical Innovations Broken Bone Project, February 2020
Biomedical Innovations capstone class students are worked on a project with various bird bones. First, they tested the tensile stress and compress stress on the bones until they broke. Next, they examined a broken bone in order to decide how to engineer a device to fix the break(s). Once students informed their patients of the problem, in Spanish, they fixed their patients' broken bones using their engineered designs.
Engineering Day at Knotts Berry Farm, February 2020
Students kicked off the 10th grade roller coaster integration project by attending Knott's Engineering Day. First, they listened to a presentation on roller coaster history and engineering from their Physics teacher. Then, they went to Knotts to learn about how roller coasters are engineered through a presentation by ride engineers. They also collected data using accelerometers and other apps to analyze how roller coasters work.
